Flag carrier Vietnam Airlines to be member of SkyTeam

The flag carrier of Vietnam is scheduled to become a member of the global aviation alliance SkyTeam in June, allowing the airline to expand its flight networks.

By becoming a full member of SkyTeam, Vietnam Airlines is going to enhances its image and position in the international market, ensure long-term sustainable development and affirm Vietnam Airlines' role as a major player in Southeast Asia.

The move will help the airline provide services to major markets such as Americas, Europe and Africa through joint flight routes and services with other SkyTeam members. The members can also collaborate in using resources, offices and other airport services, thereby help Vietnam Airlines cut operating costs while delivering better quality and efficiency.

Joining SkyTeam will also motivate the airline to upgrade its facilities and improve service quality as it faces some challenges such as sharing turnover, costs and domestic market share with other members as well as working around differences in culture and working styles with airlines worldwide.
